As an ADHD suspicious person I quickly found “I’ll do it later” to be the death of me once I became a mom.

So these little bite sized cleaning opportunities help keep things feeling more manageable with what I call the “mess stress.” They take such a short amount of time that I truly don’t even mind doing them.

A few other microclean moments -

- unloading the dishwasher while I make my daughters bottle or while my coffee brews
- laundry put away game with my toddlers before bedtime (instead of me trying to do this solo during the day)
- kiddos helping to throw all the dirty laundry into the washer while their bath fills up

It’s not that we do these things perfectly EVERY time but they’re small habits that I’ve noticed really help us when we do make them happen.

The laundry room in our new house (20 years old so “new”) doesn’t have a ton of space for sorting or folding.

I found this on Amazon and it is my new favorite thing 😅

It has wheels so if you wanted you could wheel it around room to room too. They also have different set ups and number of bins! For us, each kid gets a bin and mom & dad have the big one at the bottom.

And we do not fold the kids clothes anymore. Huge waste of time at these ages (under five!) since they just rifle through everything anyway.

Labeling their bins so our toddlers can easily put away by themselves has been huge - these labels are from @ikeausa. We do a load a day so almost always there’s something to put away and it truly takes them 2 mins before bed.

Weight loss is hard for everyone but especially for moms who have ZERO time to make it happen, it can seem impossible.

I know there’s a vibe out there that GLP-1s are “shortcuts” but I’ve found that you still need to put in the work. It’s not gonna grow the muscle for you. It’s not going to fuel your body for you. But it’s an amazing medication that can be a tool in your journey and help get things moving more quickly.

Our oldest is turning 5 and this was his “big gift” this year. I almost defaulted to buying the Melissa & Doug one on Amazon like I so often do out of desire for it to arrive quickly and be checked off my list.

I guess the tip here is just leftovers? Cook an extra recipe or just double up on whatever you’re making! Sometimes I’ll also make pasta or meal components (rice, beans) so the next day is easier.

The days my husband picks up our kids are usually my cooking days. And then the days he’s in the office and I’m solo I just have to reheat and serve - so much easier when you’re this outnumbered 🙃

For picking the recipes obviously some things keep better than others so I always keep that in mind for what we eat first. I have tried true meal prepping before but I just don’t want to give up several hours on a weekend to do that - it’s our family time that we already get so little of.

Fully acknowledge that every house set up is different so this may or may not feel easier but if your washer is on the same floor as your kids rooms, this has been awesome for us.

Fewer places to search for things.
One load a day, usually run at night.
Wake up and switch to dryer.
That’s it.

Bonus tip for my fellow ADHD suspicious moms, we add @worryfreeclean vinegar to every load. If I forget to move it over to the dryer (it happens!!) it still doesn’t smell gross even a day later. Lifesaver. Used to rewash CONSTANTLY. Not sponsored in any way!

Working Mom problems! 🫣

Any tips yall have for staying healthy during sick season, drop em below! We try to eat as many “whole foods” as we can but certainly aren’t perfect and lately have been having way too much sugar.

We still use the @ellaolaofficial unflavored toddler vitamins daily in the boys water bottles for school + @maryruthorganics probiotic drops and I do think it helps! They’ve been taking these for almost a year and don’t catch every single bug now, which counts for something!

1. Microcleaning throughout the week, small bite sized tasks so it actually gets done, like wiping down the sink while my kids are in the bath

2. We don’t fold the kids laundry, just sort it and pop into their bins. They’re just going to rifle through it all anyway!

3. Toys with many pieces (Magnatiles, puzzles, sets of figurines) live in the basement. They do not come up to the main floor or bedrooms - only exception is coloring.

4. We have big baskets for toys in each of our toddlers rooms and make it as simple as possible for them to keep their rooms tidy

5. When cooking I rarely just cook one meal. I’ll make two (easy!) recipes at once and we have leftovers throughout the week. I’ll cook once maybe twice on a week night instead of 4/5 nights.

6. Getting ready bin - everything for the kids self care / hygiene in one place, right where we need it. This has saved us many times and we are trying to build good habits (sunscreen, moisturizer etc) with them too.

7. Socks live by the door with their shoes. I also am very boring and get each kid one type of sock so matching is a breeze.

I think it’s beautiful but it does literally nothing for my little guys. Last year we started using that money instead to get them involved and start building up our family decorations slowly and they have LOVED it.

Balance 🙃 I usually try not to have a ton of packaged snacks and candy around the house but we may have a new addition to the Friday pizza movie night tradition! The kids loved it (obviously) and I remembered a gummy bear here or there won’t set me off my health goals.

This week we watched Space Dogs Adventure to the Moon on Prime - super cute and our 4.5 and 3 year old loved it.

Any other movies recs for this age? Wild Robot is another favorite but it was also 🥺 as a mom.

When I had two under two I suddenly realized I couldn’t keep up with the house like I did before. And we needed to rebalance between us as partners the duties around the house (which we did) and build new habits.

Little kid birthday parties! 🥳 love any chance to celebrate!

I love this “medium” option. The birthday kiddo is celebrated but it’s not a huge “thing” to attend these birthday parties. Don’t need to arrange childcare for other siblings, stress about finding the perfect gift, etc. This play date vibe has worked great for this stage and it’s nice to include the whole class (and see their little friendships 😩).

Our set up is usually:
- Their favorite playground or indoor play place (weather), around 10 am. Bring some balloons and small decorations for a table on theme.
- The kids play for an hour
- We put out coloring pages, bubbles or face painting, etc for when kids need a break
- Bring everyone together to grab some food & sing for cake
- And that’s about it 🤷‍♀️
- We usually skip favors unless my SIL makes iced cookies in which case we hand those out as people leave

My top tip is to pick your outfit first and then have each other person in colors that compliment / go with whatever is in your outfit! Doesn’t have to be super matchy matchy and I always include neutrals too. I’ll post some more inspo to my Stories!
